Music, Mind and Body A: Physiology and Neurology (P01189)

Via a series of lectures and seminars, the course will introduce topics regarding the physiology and neurology of music, including the auditory system, the autonomic system, the motor system and the emotional system.

The topics included in this course's description in the handbook represent themes to be covered in the course. There may be some flexibility on the specific topics covered according to the availability of staff and visiting speakers in particular weeks.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will gain an understanding of the currently emerging bio-psycho-social paradigm for human music-making, and will develop the intellectual facility to apply this knowledge to specific practice.
