Mathematics in Primary Education 3 (ED0987)

The course covers two main strands - Further Mathematics and Issues in Mathematics Education. Further Mathematics deals with algebra, probability, statistics, and a selection of enrichment topics, such as topology, graphics, practical drawing and use of instruments. Issues in Mathematics Education has two central themes: Curriculum Development and Special Educational Needs.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The broad aim of the course is to help students become more knowledgeable, confident and reflective teachers of Primary mathematics.

Assessment Information

Students are required to analyse and give their reaction to a piece of writing about mathematics education (2000 words).
