Systematic Theology 2Bh: Dogmatic Theology (DV0056)

A critical and detailed study of selected doctrines of the Christian faith, dealing with such subjects as God, Christ, salvation, the Spirit, the church, and the sacraments. Particular attention is given to the historical development of doctrine, to the relation between particular doctrines, and to their contemporary interpretation and application.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- to promote familiarity with some of the leading thinkers and theological traditions in the history of the church
- to understand the relations between certain themes in Christian doctrine
- to consider the relation between idolatry, theology, and iconography
- to foster skills of critical analysis, coherent argumentation, and lucid presentation in writing and oral discussion

Assessment Information

One 2000 word essay; five 600 word tutorial assignments (40%).
Degree examination (60%).
