Final Assessment
1 Unit of Assessment is allocated to every 20-credits of courses. Language Paper 1 counts as a 40-credit course. Orals cvount as 20-credit courses.
* No previous knowledge of Portuguese is necessary: a pass in a modern foreign language or a classical language at SCE Higher grade or equivalent evidence of linguistic proficiency is normally required.
** Must be the second level of one of the courses taken in first year.
† Students who spend 30 weeks of residence in one country as an assistant or at an approved institution will also need to fulfil the eight weeks minimum residence required for the other language: this will normally be done in the summer vacation preceding the fourth year, in a manner approved by the Head of School.
‡ Entry into Honours normally requires (i) passes in all six subjects taken in the first two years, and (ii) a mark of 50% or above in the second year of the relevant Modern European Language.
