* Honours degrees must include 40 credits of dissertation work. Where this is taken in English Literature a 20 credit unit towards the dissertation will be taken in third year, and a 20 credit completion unit in fourth year. Where the dissertation is taken in Scottish History Studies the 40 credit unit will be undertaken in fourth year.
N.B. In selecting courses in 3rd and 4th Year, students must choose their courses with the relevant Scottish content from the list of English Literature courses which will be made available to them in the previous session.

# Entry to year 3 normally requires a pass at 50% or above at the first attempt in Scottish Literature 2.
