Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should:
1) be able to discuss intelligently the differences between Jewish Studies and Old Testament Studies. 2) have a broad knowledge of Jewish history from the Persian period (515 BCE) to the Bar Kokhbah revolt (135 CE). 3) have read and be able to discuss selected passages from classical sources that attest to various forms of Jewish discourse. 4) have a good grasp of all the lecture and seminar topics detailed below. Assessment Information
Student assessment will be 10% for five seminar preparations (one-page summaries), 30% for course work (one essay of 2,000 words on any of the seminar topics Friday, 3 March 2006) and 60% final examination (2 hrs).
