The Making of Modern Scotland 2: c.1680 to the Present (U03435)? Credit Points : 40 ? SCQF Level : 8 ? Acronym : HCA-2-MMS2 This course covers the history of Scotland from the Revolution of 1689 to the present day. The starting point is chosen to illustrate the aspects of continuity between pre-Union and post-Union Scotland. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Visiting students should usually have at least 1 introductory level History course at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. By the end of the course students should have:
gained an appreciation of the main chronological and thematic issues in modern Scottish History developed their ability to engage critically with secondary sources developed their ability to engage critically with printed priimary sources developed their ability to produce coherent analytical text in essays and exam conditions understood the importance of working in a tutorial group, including the importance of regular attendance, preparation and contribution. Assessment Information
4 essays (2500words each with two in each semester) and class work (essay/source analysis) amounting to 50% of final mark. Degree exam worth 50%.
