Religion and Ritual in Late Medieval Towns (P01730)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : HCA-P-RRLateMed This supervised reading course has as its focus the religious practices and ceremonies in towns during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It will concentrate on England, but with continental comparisons, particularly the Low Countries and Italy. Its particular emphasis is upon understanding social, political and cultural contexts of these practices and ceremonies, and the changes that took place over the period. Entry Requirements? After successful completion of this course, the student will:
- have an understanding of the approaches to religion and ritual in a historical context - have detailed knowledge regarding rituals and religious ceremonies in medieval Europe c.1000-c.1500 - have developed his/her ability to engage critically in debate, to synthesize and review a range of arguments, and to analyse contemporary source material.
