Behaviour and Design of Structures 2 (U00471)

In this course, students develop an understanding of the basic concepts, behaviour, and strength of various steel, concrete, prestreseed concrete, composite and other structural sections.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- design structural steel members to resist axial tension and compression, and to resist bending moments and shear forces;
- arrange structural members in a structurally efficient way to transfer design loads;
- evaluate moment of resistance of reinforced concrete beams and their modes of failure
- design reinforced concrete beams, one-way slabs and columns.
