? Credit Points : 60  ? SCQF Level : 11  ? Acronym : CHE-4-YinAsia11

This course, together with Chemistry/Chemical Physics Year in Asia Level 10 (alongside which it must always be taken), constitutes 6 months full-time study at Nanyang Technological University (NTU, Singapore) followed by a 6 month full time industrial placement in Asia. The two courses are optional Year 4 curricula for students on the degree programmes Chemistry with Industrial Experience, Chemistry with Environmental Chemistry and Industrial Experience, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry with Industrial Experience and Chemical Physics with Industrial Experience. During the period at NTU students undertake an extended research project on a topic agreed with their host supervisor. Taught courses may also be attended and may be chosen from those available at the university at an appropriate level and relevance to students' interests and degree programme. The second 6 months of the year is spent working in a chemical or related company or institute in Asia during which time the student undertakes a full time research project. Coursework for completion during the year is provided by the University of Edinburgh. Assessment consists of marks for written project reports, coursework, a written literature survey, an oral presentation and aspects of the performance on the project.
