Geoscience Outreach (U03524)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : GEO-4-Reach This course will allow students to develop expertise in science outreach, teaching and/or knowledge transfer. Students will work with external partners in schools, exhibitions, museums or other relevant areas, to design and implement specific packages of science outreach. This may include teaching packs, presentations or work with members of the public or children. It will build on the successful School Ambassadors scheme available in some English universities, but include a wider range of partners. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : None ? Co-requisites : None ? Special Arrangements for Entry : Students will be mentored through project development in semester 1 and undertake their project in semester 2. Deadlines for submission may be flexible to allow maximum breadth of participation. Subject AreasDelivery Information? Normal year taken : 4th year ? Delivery Period : Full Year (Blocks 1-4) ? Additional Class Information : Approximately 100 hours of study will be required to pass this module Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
1. To develop communication skills at graduate science level.
2. To engage with clients to define a workable job specification and deliver it. 3. To solicit and reflect on feeback from clients and users. 4. To work as professional geoscience graduates in environments of mixed skill-bases and ages. Assessment Information
1. Reflective diary 50%
