Entry RequirementsSubject AreasDelivery Information? Normal year taken : 3rd year ? Delivery Period : Semester 2 (Blocks 3-4) Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The Mull and Kinlochleven trips are designed to improve the skills you may need for your independent mapping project, and to illustrate ductile deformation and a range of igneous phenomena. Although both cover a similar range of material, the Kinlochleven trip is weighted towards structural mapping and the Mull trip towards interpreting rocks at outcrop. The courses will both be useful for your mapping project, but if you choose to map in a deformed metamorphic terrain you should go to Kinlochleven and you should also take the 'Metamorphic Petrology & Structure' course.
The objective of the Spain field course is to prepare you for independent mapping by consolidating skills in rock identification, documentation and in asking the right questions when tackling an unknown area. The aim of the residential course associated with Spain fieldtrip - to understand the Quaternary evolution of SE Spain through analysis of the sedimentology and geomorphology of the area covered by the Spain fieldtrip.
