Qualitative Research and the City (U03230)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : GEO-4-QUALRES This course is one of a suite of research elective courses offering Honours level (4th year) undergraduates research training. It will build on 3rd year courses to provide training in qualitative approaches in urban geography. It introduces students to the role of qualitative methods in urban research more generally, and to a suite of relevant methodologies and techniques, including city as text, urban semiotics, urban ethnography, cinematic cities, sensory cities, city voices, urban morphologies, and chronogeographies. The course content considers specifically the relationship between these methodological themes, the ways we 'know' the city (theory building), and the way we research the city (techniques). The course delivers this content through a structure in which an actual city space is investigated and reported upon using these differing qualitative lenses. Entry Requirements?
