Plant Development & Its Evolution (U02669)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : BIO-4-DBPltDev This Elective will focus on stem cells, developmental phase transitions, and developmental mechanisms in plants. We will use these as case studies to highlight important advances for the understanding of plant development. In the first part, we will review the genetic mechanisms responsible for plant cell and organ development and will consider how plant cells communicate with each other. The timing of plant development is plastic and responds to environmental cues. In the second part of the elective, we will use flowering time control and the specification of flower organs as examples. Finally, we will use embryogenesis and seed development as a case study for imprinting in plants. Entry Requirements? This course is not available to visting students. ?
