Pharmacology of New Mediators (U02582)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : BMS-4-PHnm The course deals with recent discoveries and methods of research and focuses on firstly lipid substances that include essential fatty acids (EFA) and substances derived from them biochemically, including cannabinoids and vanilloids. The roles of these substances in the immune system, mediation of pain perception and several other roles are considered. The importance of EFA lipids in the diet and in pathophysiology of various diseases are discussed and include the concept of oxidative stress contributing to disease Only a selected number of areas can be covered in the time available and these will include: Entry Requirements?
