Continues the first year course (Body Systems I) with study of the Digestive system, Metabolism, Central Nervous System including the Special Senses, Reproduction including an Introduction to Obstetrics, and the Surface and Topographical Anatomy of the Horse and the Ox.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will be expected to attain an integrated knowledge and understanding of the anatomical, functional and biochemical aspects of the Digestive System, Metabolism, Nervous Systems and Reproduction. Knowledge of the structure and function of the limbs and an applied knowledge of the surface and topographical anatomy of the horse and ox should also be obtained. These factors will be assessed by examination and by in course assessment.

Assessment Information

In-course assessment (contributing to 20% of the final mark) comprising course essay (10%) and selected practical reports (10%) and an end of year Degree Examination (contributing to 80% of the final mark). The examination consists of two written papers, each of 2½ hours duration, with a contribution of 60% to the final mark and one written 'spot' paper of 1½ hours duration contributing to 20% of the final mark.
