General Neuroscience (U01063)

? Credit Points : 10  ? SCQF Level : 10  ? Acronym : BMS-4-NSgen

This course will not try to complete the reading of a text book in a semester. We will study a variety of aspects of Neuroscience with the aim of exposing students to the breadth of the subject, and giving them practice is some of its core skills. These will include the use of the research literature and the analysis of experimental results; skills needed in any branch of science but taught with Neuroscience material. We will also highlight current controversies in the Neuroscience field by asking the teachers and researchers in the subject area to talk for no more than an hour and then let students explore some aspect of the topic in their own time with the aim of helping them make up their own mind.
