Animal Orientation (U00690)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : BIO-4-ZOanorien The various mechanisms that enable animals to orientate; the processes behind behaviours, ranging from migration to pin-pointing a goal with the aid of landmarks. Topics will include a study of different compass types and their calibration, mapping techniques and landmark recognition. Examples will be taken from a wide range of animal taxa. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Permission of the Curriculum Approval Officer. Normally Brain & Behaviour 3 or Behavioural Ecology 3 is required, or concurrent attendance at Animal Evolution.
