This course provides an introduction to statistical and computing methods for electrical engineering students.

The first part of the course discusses the issues behind design for manufacturability followed by an introduction to the concepts of statistical process control used to optimise manufacturing quality. This module also aims to enable students to acquire the skills and knowledge to program computers in the C language, to develop software using software engineering methods and to be able to use computers to solve engineering problems. Finally this module provides an introduction to a computer package called MATLAB, which permits statistical processes to be investigated and simulated.
