Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
1. Understand the importance of the link between design and manufacture.
2. Appreciate the impact of defects on quality, timescale and cost of production. 3. Understand the strategies for minimising defects. 4. Construct and understand the use of process control charts and their statistical basis. 5. Understand the concepts of factorial designed experiments. 6. Explain the concept of the Taguchi quality loss function and its application to quality improvement. 7. Have a basic understanding of how computers work. 8. Be confident about writing C programs. 9. Be able to apply software engineering methods. 10. Be able to use computer tools like C and MATLAB to investigate and solve engineering problems. Assessment Information
