Fluid Mechanics 2 (U00469)

? Credit Points : 10  ? SCQF Level : 8  ? Acronym : EEL-2-ETFM2

This course gives an introduction to Fluid Mechanics and provides the foundation for following courses in later years. It aims to develop an understanding of the fundamental principles of the elementary mechanics of fluids, with special reference to water. The student should develop an awareness of the qualitative behaviour of fluids in typical situations so that models of problems can be set up for solution. The module's objectives are to: produce quantitative solutions for models derived from some useful applications in the fields of measurement and pipe flow; establish enough theoretical background to enable the range of validity of these basic solutions to be understood; and to provide a starting point with respect to terminology and theory for more advanced study in subsequent years.
