Planning and Control of Projects 4 (U00426)

Project Management is the application of management principles to develop an optimal plan; to make a budget; to put in place controls and procedures; so that the work can be executed to schedule and within budget to specified quality and safety standards. In this elective course the principles of planning and control will be taught.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the stages of a project and the principal players within and without a project;
- Analyse a project and produce a plan and a schedule of resources requirements, and carry out limited optimisation;
- Demonstrate an understanding of quality and safety in a project and the importance of the leadership role of a project manager.
