Forensic Toxicology (P02429)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MED-P-P02429 The aim of this course is to educate students in the theoretical aspects of analytical chemistry in relation to drugs as applied to forensic toxicology. Entry Requirements? This course is not available to visting students. ? Pre-requisites : None other than programme entry requirements. ? Special Arrangements for Entry : Registered students will access this course using their EASE username and password. In addition to the course materials and resources provided on WebCT, candidates will be expected to use internet and published resources during self directed study and research. At the completion of this course the candidate should
- Understand the procedures and principles involved in the preparation and analysis of drug and toxicology samples - Understand the principles and theory of drug extraction procedures - Be familiar with common preliminary and confirmatory drug tests and their rationale - Be familiar with common analytical techniques and their working mechanisms - Be familiar with the testing procedures for the identification of common drugs of misuse - Be able to develop an analysis procedure for a given drug and to present findings in a report format and complete a virtual case study Assessment Information
