Conscious Sedation 3 (P01433)

To provide competent dental sedationists with the attitudes, knowledge and skills required to provide supervised clinical practice in conscious sedation for dentistry for students enrolled in conscious sedation 1 or equivalent.

Entry Requirements

? Pre-requisites : -Successful completion of a Registerable Dental Qualification -The completion of two years postgraduate practice of dentistry -Successful completion of Conscious Sedation 1 + 2 (or accredited prior learning) -Successful completion of at least one Psychological Anxiety Management Module -Submission of a curriculum vitae indicating that CPD is being maintained -Successful outcome at a selection interview (optional)

? Co-requisites : General Dental Council registration Employment as a general Dental Practitioner Medical Indemnity cover

? Prohibited combinations : The student may not study any of the other sedation modules contemporaneously with Conscious Sedation 3.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To confirm that the participant has the knowledge and skills covered in conscious sedation 1 + 2.
To extend the participant's depth and breadth of knowledge to manage frequently encountered problems in clinical training.
To provide an insight into alternative treatment strategies
To provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to be an effective clinical teacher.
To provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to effectively assess clinical practice.

Assessment Information

70% = Satisfactory completion of supervised clinical practice
Satisfactory completion of LEP assessments
30% = MCQ exam, duration 1 hour
