It will include a description of planning theory, approaches to needs assessment, use of routine and other data, methods of consultation. Students will use the material in a group exercise throughout the course, in which they will work on a report planning the development of a stated service. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course students should be able to:
- Describe the planning cycle and approaches to planning - Know sources of routine data and their potential use in needs assessment and evaluation - Discuss the use of evidence in needs assessment, planning and evaluation - Describe concepts of need and approaches to needs assessment - Describe approaches to consultation with stakeholders - Describe approaches to and influences on decision making - Apply these principles to the development of a strategy and/or plan for a stated service Assessment Information
