Acronym : EDU-P-P00566 Efficient operational and financial systems are essential to any organisation in the sport and recreation sector, irrespective of its position in the public, private or voluntary sector. Control of the operational and financial processes and ensuring their efficient and effective use require an understanding of both the concepts and practices of operations financial and management accounting, and of the contribution of theses processes to management decision-making. This module examines the application of theoretical concepts to a range of operations relevant to the delivery of sport and recreation services. By the end of the module students will be able to:
1. apply management planning models to a range of sport and recreation facilities. 2. evaluate occupational health and safety issues and procedures to sport and recreation organisations. 3. prepare, analyse and interpret basic financial statements, budgets and cash-flows 4. critically evaluate and apply performance measurement systems. Assessment Information
Students will submit an assignment (4000 words) in form of a critical evaluation of an operations strategy and financial procedures of an organisation (provided in the form of a case study).
