Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

students will be able, using a computer system, to:

- write simple programs in Fortran 90, including the use of library and user written subroutines.
- solve single nonlinear algebraic equations and, following rearrangement, sets of equations reducible to a single unknown.
- solve sets of linear algebraic equations using a library solver.
- solve single and nonstiff sets of o.d.e.s and d.a.e.s.
- optimise single variable functions with constraints.
- fit sets of linear data using least squares and, through transformation, certain nonlinear data.

Assessment Information

This course is assessed by weekly computing exercises and class tests. There is a resit written paper in August for anyone failing the continuous assessment
