One of the following topics will be available in any given year: (a) The Upanisads with their Vedic background; (b) The rise of Vaisnavism; (c) Saivism; (d) Worship of the goddess; (e) Epic and Puranic Hinduism; (f) the six systems of Hindu thought; (g) The bhakti movement.

? This course is only available to part year visiting students.

? Pre-requisites : Pass in Indian Religion and Philosophy 2 or equivalent.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Knowledge of an aspect of Hinduism from a historical perspective.

Assessment Information

Two essays of 1000 - 1500 words. Average of essays 40% plus degree exam, 60%.
