Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to:
- identify the philosophical influences on the phenomenology of religion; - describe the place phenomenology of religion plays in the overall history of the study of religions; - outline the chief stages in the phenomenological method in the study of religions; - critically discuss problems related to the phenomenological method; - define the relationship between religious texts and oral traditions; - clearly describe hermeneutical principles employed in reading texts. Tutorial presentations 5%; tutorial attendance 5%; essay of 2000 words 30%; exam in June diet of exams 60%.
