The main aim of this course is to provide a set of practical aural skills relevant to the students' musical needs.

? Pre-requisites : Only available to students on a Music degree programme.

? Additional Class Information : Taught in 2 tutorial groups in Weeks 2-5 and 7-10.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- Students will be able to aurally recognise various chords, scales and simple harmonic progressions.
- Students will be capable of accurately transcribing various rhythmic and melodic dictations.
- Students will be capable of accurately transcribing simple folk songs from various world cultures.
- Students will be capable of accurately transcribing simple four-part harmonic dictations.

Assessment Information

One class examination (50%) and one degree examination (50%).
