Geography Fieldwork: Foundations (Physical) (U02538)

The Geography Field course provides experience and training via the undertaking of project work in a variety of field settings. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of research and practical skills necessary to undertake field-based research.

Entry Requirements

? This course is not available to visting students.

? Co-requisites : Quantitative Methods in Geography OR Qualitative Methods in Geography and Research Techniques in Geography

? Prohibited combinations : Geography Small Research Project Geography Fieldwork: Foundations (Human)

? Costs : A contribution to cover travel and subsistence is required from students (to be confirmed)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To be introduced to inspirational case studies that complement more theoretical work.
To develop skills by problem-solving, data collection, analysis and interpretation.
To gain an appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of field techniques employed.
To develop communication and interactive skills for group work.
