Visions for Geography (U02526)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : GEO-4-VISIONS This course is the final core course of the four-year honours degree in Geography. It draws this degree programme to a conclusion by developing and expressing students' visions for Geography through an undergraduate conference and a short series of lectures delivered by the most senior academic staff in the discipline (mainly Professors). The undergraduate conference consists of poster presentations prepared by students, based on their dissertation research and presenting the importance of this work for the discipline of Geography, including its various subfields. It will be preceded by two workshops. The lecture series consists of a series of visions for Geography presented by senior academics, focussing on their respective research specialisms. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should be able to present and engage in rigorous debate about the prospects for the discipline in which they have studied. They will have gained skills in the preparation of posters based on research, including skills of visual presentation and the production of short, sharp research outputs. Students will also have reflected on the entirety of their degree programmes in relation to claims and debates about future directions for the discipline.
