Exploration Seismology (U02458)

Exploration Seismology A consists of 5 topics: land and marine 3D seismic reflection data acquisition; seismic sources; creation of seismic sections and 3D seismic volumes; the impulse and impulse response; dip moveout and seismic migration.

The 2nd part of the course is Methods of Interpretation. Topics covered include seismic refraction interpretation; velocity determination, structural interpretation and time-to-depth converstion of seismic reflection data; structural interpretation exercise; and petrophysical properties from borehole seismic data interpretation.

? Pre-requisites : Year 3 of BSc (Hons) Geophysics. Please see the degree programme table for more information.
