Acronym : LLC-1-U02153 This course is an introduction to the religious, political, social and cultural history of the Islamic world from 600 to 1258. The first semester covers the rise of Islam, the Arab conquests, and the early Islamic world empire. The second semester deals with the crusades and the impact of the nomadic Turkish and Mongol invasions. Entry Requirements? Examination: two 2 hour exams (60%)
Coursework: two essays of 2000 words and tutorial contribution (40%) Exemption from Spring exam for those with 60% and above. Exam times
