Aims and objectives: This option examines judgment and decision making as it relates to particularly social issues. It begins with the Lecturer providing an overview of basic issues in judgment and decision making. The format of the classes thereafter is variable (e.g., short lectures, small and large group discussions, class presentations) in order to facilitate students' understanding of some interesting and often controversial issues in social judgment and decision making, including the false consensus effect, evolutionary vs. socio-cultural pressures, selection of criteria for measuring rationality, definitions of accuracy, etc.
