Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The essay-writing element of the course teaches students to structure and sustain, in German, an argument relating to political, cultural, or social issues. Precis composition teaches the ability to recognise quickly essential information in a text and to summarize the text for the benefit of a third party. Both of these are important transferable skills. The course will also develop students' writing style and vocabulary in German, and their competence in German grammar and syntax
