Children with Special Educational Needs (U02028)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : PPL-4-CSEN-PS This option will draw upon the research and clinical work of Professor Thomson into the identification, assessment and meeting the special education needs of children and young people experiencing significant difficulties. The knowledge and theoretical bases of the course will be that of applied educational psychology with the central focus being that of the switch from deficit models of failure towards a more systems oriented approach. A feature of the course will be the focus on how research questions might be framed; which methodologies might be deployed to answer these questions and how resultant data may be analysed to provide advice and guidance to policy makers and those involved in service delivery in the education sector.
