System Level Integration Practical (U01967)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : INF-4-SLIP The objective of this module is the design, analysis and implementation of embedded systems. Students will experience hands-on all aspects of system design - from abstract system specification to its realisation on a programmable integration platform. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Successful completion of Year 3 of an Informatics Single or Combined Honours Degree, or equivalent by permission of the School. It is anticipatd that students who successfully complete the course will have learnt the following:
- An understanding of the practical issues involved in the specification, design and implementation of complex embedded systems through hands-on experience - Experience of working as a team, involving members with complimentary skill sets, leading to the development of skills such as project management, requirements capture and negotiations with team members - An appreciation of the intimate interaction between the software and the hardware when optimising metrics such as memory footprint, speed and power consumption - Experience in using tools such as compilers for embedded systems, system-level simulators and web-authoring tools for the final report.
