Physical Education PE4B Perspectives (U01562)

PE4B Perspectives is structured around the three discipline areas that have traditionally informed undergraduate BEd Physical Education programmes in Scotland. These are Aesthetics, Science and Sociocultural. By inclusion of all three perspective the half credit course will contribute to students' knowledge and understanding of the various discourses and bodies of knowledge that can be translated into professional action. By accessing these different perspectives students will be able to identify sets of ideas which can be linked through an appeal to the subject matter in Physical Education.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of this 20 credit course students will be able to:-
1. Enhance their capacity to engage critically in the process of facilitating Physical Education's contribution to the goals of a school.
2. Enhance their capacity to develop in pupils an appreciation of the contribution made to a healthy lifestyle by involvement in a range of active leisure pursuits.
3. Increase their appreciation of various discourses concerning Physical Education.
4. Enhance their capacity to adopt an enquiry orientation towards their professional practice.
5. Increase their appreciation of the potential contribution of to an individual's development.
