Academic Portfolio 1 (U00832)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : ACE-4-ADPort1 This course requires students to curate the academic work produced during their MA (Hons)degree and present it in the form of an integrated academic portfolio as defined by the Architects' Registration Board. The work to curate and present the portfolio is independant of the work from the courses themselves. This portfolio is defined as: 'a comprehensive chronological record of a student's design project work together with all course work, including reports, dissertations, sketch books and any other evidence of work, (with project briefs and examination papers), that have been assessed as part of the course leading to an award of Part 1'. This course emphasizes the design and conceptualization skills required for the integration and presentation of diverse kinds of knowledge and media (drawings, installations, printed books/reports, models, photographs, films, digital material, etc). Entry Requirements? This course is not available to visting students. ? Co-requisites : Architectural Design Dissertation (U00835), Architectural Design Placement Report (U00830), Architectural Design option 2 (U00831 ? Prohibited combinations : This course can only be taken by students enrolled in the MA (Hons) Architectural Design degree ? - An ability to summarize, organise and present a large body of work conducted in diverse media - analyitical, descriptive, expressive drawings, models and text - in the folio format.
- An understanding of how coherent architectural designs integrate a knowledge of Technology & Environment, Cultural Context of architecture, Communication, and Management Practice and Law to Part 1 level (as defined by the Architects' Registration Board). - An awareness of how to present work for scrutiny by peers, potential employers, the media, and other public groups. This course MUST BE PASSED for a student to be awarded the MA(Hons) degree. A re-submission in August will be permitted if the course is failed.
