Commodities and Change in South Asia (U00788)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : GEO-3-SASIA The course (CCSA) focuses on the social geography of South Asia. It explores the changing nature of religious, caste, class and gender inequalities with particular reference to democratisation, education and the state in rural north India. CCSA begins by providing a background to the history of South Asia and social structures in rural India. The course describes the deepening of democracy in India and associated politicisation of social groups formerly excluded from competitive politics.
