Parasitic Diseases of Public Health Importance (U00752)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : BIO-4-ZOhealth This course will discuss various aspects of parasitic diseases and public health, including epidemiology, diagnosis, eradication, drug therapy, vaccination and primary healthcare programmes in developing countries. Pathogens discussed include examples of waterborne and zoonotic infections, eg. cryptosporidiosis, giardiasis, toxoplasmosis, echinococcosis, trypanosomiasis, scabies and the Scottish midge. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Permission of the Curriculum Approval Officer. Normally Parasite Biology 3 is required or concurrent attendance at Animal Evolution.
