Evolution and the Brain (U00751)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : BIO-4-ZOcog This course will consider the evolution of the animal mind, by examining the cognitive processes by which animals perceive and understand the world in the context of the ecological and evolutionary background in which selections act. Topics will include sexual and filial imprinting, kin recognition, whether animals can count, whether animals learn from others and tool use. A wide variety of species will be considered. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Permission of the Curriculum Approval Officer. Normally Brain & Behaviour 3 is required, or concurrent attendance at Animal Evolution.
