Intelligent Systems (U00600)

To introduce a contemporary multidisciplinary approach to intelligent systems considered from the perspective of their evolution, growth and development. New theoretical and technical developments will be considered from comparative psychology, neuroscience and robotics which redefine classical problems in more productive scientific ways and set an inclusive agenda for the future.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- The course will enable students to discriminate productive historical influences on comparative psychology, neuroscience and artificial systems from those which disable scientists attempting to deal with contemporary issues.
- To grasp the theoretical significance of a new inclusive evolutionary framework
- To understand the crucial role of technological advance in securing dramatic new insights into our understanding of how complex intelligent systems work.
