Community Education 2 (U00575)

? Credit Points : 40  ? SCQF Level : 8  ? Acronym : EDU-2-CE

This course focuses on the changing nature of the state and community education. It reflects the diversity of CE as currently practised, using the traditional 3-strand model as a starting point for analysis. The course begins by exploring conceptual models of community education, including models from the countries of the south as well as the UK. The '3 strand' conceptualisation of community education (adult education, community work and youth work) is introduced and the development of different traditions and approaches explored. The course concludes with a survey of contemporary issues, drawing together theoretical models and practice examples from each of the three strands.
