This course covers further structural engineering issues for those taking the Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering with Architecture Programmes. Dynamics of Structures will cover the analysis of the dynamics of simple structures, the techniques used for more complex structures, and the qualitative behaviour of more complex structures when subject to dynamic loads.

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- calculate the free vibrations characteristics of single and multiple degree freedom systems;
- work out the response of single degree freedom systems subjected to step, ramp, pulse, harmonic and arbitrary excitation;
- describe the qualitative behaviour of more complex systems.
