Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- articulate the problems associated with building theories of religion from African perpectives; - differentiate between African interpretations and the appropriation of Western concepts as if they were indigenous; - critically analyse the approaches to the study of religions by the African scholars examined; explain the relevance of post-colonial perspectives to African views of Religious Studies; - express in written and verbal forms how competing theories in the study of religions by African scholar critique each other. Assessment Information
Assessment will be calculated in the following ways: Degree Examinations (60%); Essay of 2000 words (30%); Seminar Presentation and Participation (10%).
