History of Modern Philosophy (PP0070)? Credit Points : 40 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : PPL-3-HMP-PH The course discusses the works of six major figures in the history of modern Philosophy. It begins with a survey of some of the most significant works by empiricist philosophers: Locke's Essay Concerning Human Understanding; Berkeley's A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge and Three Dialogues Between Hylas and Philonus; and Hume's A Treatise of Human Nature (Book 1). It continues with a discussion of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, Schopenhauer's The World as Will and Representation and Nietzsche's later philosophy concentrating on Beyond Good and Evil, The Genealogy of Morality and The Gay Science.
