Introduction to Statistics and Critical Appraisal (P02005)

The course provides an introduction to key concepts and topics in the statistical methods typically used in public health research, and will introduce students to the techniques used to apraise critically published research in the public health and epidemiological literature. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students should be familiar with the basic prinicples underlying statistical thinking, including areas such as types of data, the relationship of population to sample, sampling methods, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. They should also be able to criticise published literature in a careful and systematic way.
