This course will focus on the individual and professional development aspects of clinical education, more specifically:
This course will consider the psychological aspects of a students professional and personal development. It will include concepts and research evidence pertaining selection and admission, cognitive and emotional intelligences and the merits of personality profiles such as the Jefferson scale, and learning inventories proposed by Kolb and Honey and Mumford, and Entwistles ASSIST. Some consideration will be given to the psychological issues concerning critical professional experiences (serious clinical errors, pressures of onerous clinical obligations). The value of appraisal as a central instrument for self-development will be included.
