Skills for Advanced Researchers in Geography (P01519)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : GEO-P-GISFGIC Provides students with training in transferable skills, necessary to the proper management, execution and dissemination of research undertkane at an advanced level in the field of geography and other related spatial and environmental sciences, including GIS. Thecourse delivers a suite of transferable skills, including: teamwork and research; research writing and publishing; time management in research; fieldwork and research; resource and logistical scoping for research. These generic skills are delivered in a way that relates them to empirical and theoretical themes responsive to the student's own research interests. Entry Requirements? - acquisition of generic skills relevant to the management of advanced level independent and team-based research in human and physical geography, and related spatial and environmental sciences.
- knowledge of the relationship between planned strategies of skill development and successful research outcomes. - knowledge of the role of time management in large-scale, long duraton research projects. - acquisition of writing and publishing skills, necessary for the dissemination of research findings. - acquisition of presentation skills (oral and multi-media) necessary for presentation of research findings. - knowledge of the role of fieldwork in research and the intellectual and practical issues it raises for research management and design.
